ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

CRC SRC, Balangir of Rehabilitation Training and Research (formerly known as NIRTAR) was established at Olatpur on 22 February 1984. Olatpur is 35 Kms. away from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar by road in Odisha, a beautiful rural surrounding. This Institute was originally established as National Institute of Prosthetic and Orthotics Training (NIPOT) as a subsidiary unit of ALIMCO, Kanpur in 1975. Presently it is an autonomous body and a Registered Society under the financial and administrative control of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DIVYANGJAN), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India. This Institute is serving the Persons with Disabilities from all parts of India. It is one of the premier Institute in the country in the field of Rehabilitation of the Locomotor Disability.

The Institute has a 100-bedded Hospital along with well equipped Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Prosthetics & Orthotics Departments for Rehabilitation of Persons with Locomotor Disabilities.

GOVERNING BODY OF CRC SRE, Balangiri.

The Governing body of CRC SRC, Balangir is constituted by two councils viz. (1) General Council (GC) whose president is the Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and (2) Executive Council (EC) whose Chairperson is the Joint Secretary (Disability Division), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India. Director of the Institute is administrative Head of the Institute and is Member Secretary for both the governing councils.

THE MAIN AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF CRC SRC, Balangir

  1. To undertake, sponsor or co-ordinate the training of the Rehabilitation Personnel.
  2. To conduct, sponsor, co-ordinate or subsidise research on Bio-medical Engineering for evaluation and development of new aids and to develop suitable surgical/medical procedures for persons with Locomotor Disability.
  3. To Promote, distribute and subsidise the manufacture of prototype Aids and Appliances.
  4. To develop models of service delivery programmes for Rehabilitation.
  5. To undertake Vocational training, Placement and Rehabilitation of the Physically Handicapped.
  6. To document and disseminate information on Disability and Rehabilitation in India and abroad.
  7. To promote the use of ALIMCO products.

TRAINING PROGRAMMES

Human resource development has always been a priority for the Institute since its inception. To meet the demand for various Rehabilitation professionals in the country, the Institute conducts various long-term courses.

Separate Common Entrance Test for the above mentioned courses will be held in all the important cities of the country except DNB (PMR) which is conducted by Diplomat in National Board, New Delhi. DNB course is equivalent to M.D. in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

3. OUT SIDE INTERNEES.

Internship Programme for BPT & BOT Outside students is undergoing at CRC SRC, Balangir for six months who have been passed the BPT, BOT courses from recognized university/Institution as regular students

SHORT TERM COURSES

Short duration Programme of one day to one week period have been designed to update the knowledge of faculty members and Rehabilitation Professionals working in various Government and Non-Governmental organizations. It is also to orient professionals and various level of government functionaries on Community Based Rehabilitation services.

The programmes have also been prepared to create general awareness amongst the Community Leaders and family members of the persons with disabilities thus they can understand the problems faced by the Persons with Disability in the society and can find the solutions with in the community to ease their productive and self sufficient lives.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The eligibility requirement for admission to short term courses depends upon the nature and objectives of the course. Each participants of all professional SOC/CME/Workshop will have to pay 300/- (three hundred only) as Registration fee.

While choosing the courses, the prospective participants may go through the eligibility requirements prescribed for each course. The venue, duration and schedule of programme mentioned are changeable at the discretion of the Director.
